Mental movements: How long?distance walking influences reflection processes among middle?age and older adults

By providing a distinctive room for reflection, long-distance walks can help people similar to professional counselling. To understand reflection processes’ influence on mental health, framework focusing personal transformations, specifically through the concept of liminality, be used. Through nine semi-structured interviews with middle-aged and older walkers, this study answers following question: How do adults experience walking, how their experiences reflective process? Four themes emerged during analysis: (1) overcoming strain achieving sense capability; (2) simplicity in obligations having time pursue emotionally difficult experiences; (3) solitariness oneself; (4) calmness embracing thoughts. These findings illustrate going may entering liminal, or transformational, space. The show helpful, perhaps even therapeutic, situations where transformation is required.
